Edited by: Julius Romanus on 17/02/2008 18:25:44 Its called the ship scanner. Next to the camera controls on the left of your armor/shield/hull/cap indicator. It'll save your life.
In your case though WCS or a faster ship is what you are looking for.

The way I do it(this is from a pirates perspective, reverse engineer for your uses), Is i have an overview setting that includes stuff people might warp to: belts, stations, planets that sorta thing, and all ship types. I hold down alt, which brings up some brackets around where your ship actually is, which are used like a gunsight.
After figuring out which direction the person is w/ 180degrees, I narrow down the scan to 90/60 degrees. Because my overview has all the things one might warp to that arent safe spots or deadspace(without a probe no point in trying for those) it helps narrow where I have to look.
If I scan at 90 and see say a punisher, and 2x belts on scan I know he's either somewhere safe or in that cluster of belts. If at 5 degrees I have a punisher and a belt, there's a very good chance i'm warping to a target.

depending on the slots you've got to work with try to throw on nanofibers or istabs along with those wcs's. If your ship has a drone bay fill it with ECM drones when you can(i doubt you have the skill for it given your newness). The nanos/istabs help get you to warp faster.
Another thing, if you happen to pass through the same area a lot outfit the fastest frigate you own with a few overdrive injectors and a mwd(and cap mods to keep it going). Jump into the gate you see a lot, and hit the far right of your velocity bar(to set your ship to full speed), hit the MWD and fix a snack. You want to get off the grid from the gate(im talking about 1000km out, thus the fixing a snack). Drop a book mark, name it "insta align <system/gate>" so this anywhere you go to often. That way when you jump in with your big slow full of goodies ship, you dont have to look for natural warp to spots that are close to your alignment. Instead you warp to your bookmark, which you are already aligned for.

Originally by: Mara Rinn I see people talking about "blockade runner" all the time - is this a specific vessel, or a role that can be played by some T2 industrial with appropriate fitout?
Can someone suggest a blockade runner fitout so I have somewhere to start?
T2 indys come in 2 types 'transports' which generally speaking have some form of tank bonus and lots of tank slots. And 'blockade runners' which have 2 points of built in WCS, and are highly agile/fast, and have a tank bonus(but not really the fittings for one +mwd).
Impel would be the amarr transport Prorator is the blockade runner.
